Gardener. Philosopher. Geek.

I first joined the youth lists back in 7th grade (no, you aren't going to count the years). I had been out to most of my school due to my utter lack of social editing at that point and was feeling rather... alone. Going through the growing pains of pubescence, most kids can relate to their peers, but as the one gay boy (well, the one "out gay boy), there was no one with whom I could connect. Sure, everyone gets labled in adolescence, but "jock" or "nerd" atleast leaves you with some fellow jocks or nerds. "Oh, the one gay guy" doesn't.

Then I found Youth-Guard.org. Nothing profound or amazing happened after I first joined, it was more or less just another e-mail list. At first. Then, I don't know, slowly, slowly, I started feeling like a normal kid. It showed me that being gay wasn't the end-all be-all of my identity, it wasn't something rare or exlusionary, it was just something that was a part of me. I felt less like "the one gay guy", and more like just one of the guys.

That's what YGS really is, to me anyways. It's not about just being gay, it's about being able to be a young adult, being able to grow up like everyone else.

Enough of my preachy-ness. As for actual biographical information on myself... I was born October 13th, 1985, and have lived in Northern Virginia for my entire life. I graduated High School when in 2002, and started going to Northern Virginia Community College in the fall of 2005. I'm fluent in French, an able gardener, and a geek-of-all-trades. I don't know enough about any esoteric field to actually accomplish anything, but I know enough in all of them to get myself in trouble trying to.
