The Souvenir Album
This rare collector's CD (there are very few left in stock) was created for the fans of the Los Angeles cast of THE LAST SESSION. The first five tracks of the CD contain songs they recorded live in the studio in one or two takes: The ensemble's "Preacher & The Nurse" A fan request: Bob Stillman singing "Going It Alone" Amy Coleman singing an early song of Steve's, "One New Hell" Maisey singing "You Are A Stranger" (now featured in "The Big Voice: God or Merman?") Jeff Juday singing "Shades of Blue." (This song is partially used in THE LAST SESSION. This is the only recording of the full version.)
The Quiet Session:
Near You (fully orchestrated on the "Beyond The Light" CD) You Are A Stranger (now in "The Big Voice: God or Merman?") The Sad Lady (this is the only known recording) James Robison (now called James Robertson -- orchestrated on "Beyond The Light") A Simple Faith (also on the "Bonus Round Sessions" CD with strings)
(The only actual break he took was after song one when Randy Tobin, the recording engineer, mistakenly faded where Steve was holding the piano. You can hear on the tape where Steve tells Randy, "Don't fade, man..." For the rest of the songs, you can hear the pedal release on the recording.)
